Biography

Rowan worked as a structural design engineer between 1988 and 2003 in a few Melbourne consultancies, prior to joining FMG Engineering, and pursuing a new, but integrally related, career path as a forensic structural engineer. He played an instrumental role growing the Forensic Division of FMG in Melbourne, and was appointed to Technical Manager in 2010. He left FMG in 2012, and commenced Preventative Structural Engineering P/L.

Rowan is a Chartered Professional Engineer, having over 25 years experience in consulting Structural Engineering. His structural design experience spans the majority of building types, and includes individual residences, apartment buildings, industrial and commercial buildings, and institutional and educational buildings. In the past 10 years, he has been primarily involved with the investigation of distressed buildings for the insurance industry.
Rowan’s strong technical skills, painstaking attention to detail, and excellent written skills combine to create an expert in the area of forensic structural engineering who is able to provide a clear, concise and independent explanation of the relevant engineering matters to the legal profession.
Rowan’s experience as a forensic structural engineer has given him an in depth knowledge of how and why failures occur in the building industry, and this knowledge flows into his structural engineering design and documentation to ensure the structures designed by PSE are structurally sound, safe, and compliant. It is from this concept that the business name arose.
